The Type 3740XL wet-running split seal is the extra large version of John Crane's successful Type 3740 split seal that incorporates proven mechanical seal design features for fast and easy seal installation, while providing reliable seal performance in demanding large pump and other big rotating equipment fluid services.
Type 3740XL split seals are especially beneficial for use on large pumps and rotating equipment that are difficult and time consuming to disassemble for non-split seal installations & repairs or packing maintenance. These mechanical seals are commonly used in desalination, irrigation, mineral processing, power generation, pulp & paper and water/wastewater industries.
Dry Running Cartridge Split Seal
The Type 3740D dry-running split seal is a mechanical seal designed for the large shaft run-out and harsh operating conditions commonly associated with top-entry vessel mixing services and other dry-running applications. Type 3740D dry-running split seals are suitable for use in equipment according to 2014/34/EU (ATEX 95) Group II, Category 2 GD.

The SEPCO® XR2 is easily assembled with only two halves. O-rings and gaskets are factory installed and do not require user attention. This assures factory-tested leak-free secondary sealing components. The XR2 has a balanced design that allows for pressures up to 200 psi (17 bar). This design feature dramatically increases the range for applications of a split seal.
